Plumber in Elmvale, ON

Elmvale at a glance

Elmvale sits where County Road 27 meets County Road 92 (Queen Street) in Springwater Township, north of Barrie. It had 2,369 residents in 2011 and is home to the Elmvale Jungle Zoo. Springwater was formed in 1994 by joining the Flos and Vespra townships with the villages of Elmvale and Hillsdale.

What that means for your plumbing

Elmvale is a village surrounded by farmland, so plumbers here work on everything from in-town homes on municipal services to farms with wells, pressure tanks and long buried lines. If your pressure drops or the pump runs constantly, see well pumps and water treatment.

Wind off Georgian Bay

Northern Springwater sits closer to Georgian Bay's snow squalls than Barrie does. Pipes on the windward side of a house and in unheated porches are the first to freeze. Seal drafts and insulate those lines before December.

Maple syrup and the Wendat capital

Before European settlement, Ossossane, the largest Wendat settlement and capital of the confederacy, stood near modern-day Elmvale. Today the village is best known for the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival, which has drawn thousands of visitors every spring since 1966. Sugar shacks and farm buildings often have their own water lines, which should be drained or kept heated through the winter. If you're planning a renovation in an older village home, have the drains camera-checked first; see drain and sewer cleaning.
