Plumber in Midhurst, ON

Midhurst at a glance

Midhurst is a community in the Township of Springwater, just north of Barrie. It's the county seat of Simcoe County and, with nearly 3,000 people, the largest population centre in Springwater. Willow Creek runs through it, connecting Green Pine Park and Doran Park.

What that means for your plumbing

Midhurst is a mix of established streets and estate-style lots on the edge of the countryside. Larger homes often have long runs of pipe, multiple bathrooms and big water heaters, and some outlying properties use wells. If the far bathroom takes forever to get hot water, a recirculation line may help; see water heaters.

Creek and marshland

Willow Creek and the marshland around the Hunter-Russel Trail mean some low-lying lots have high groundwater in spring. Basements in those spots rely on sump pumps; test yours before the thaw.

Finlay Mill and Autumnfest

Midhurst takes its name from the town of Midhurst in England, and Cowdray Park is named after the main park there. A tree nursery and a sawmill on Willow Creek once supplied trees for the province, and Finlay Mill Road is named after the mill's owner, Alex Finlay. The old grist-mill stone still stands as a monument near the Finlay Mill bridge. The Midhurst Autumnfest fall fair has run every year since 1969. Homes close to the creek are the ones most likely to need a sump pump or backwater valve.
